Big porcelain formats reduce joints and make floors and walls read as a single surface. They also need more planning: flatness, handling, crating and installation all change at this scale. We supply large formats from 800 × 1600 mm up to 1200 × 3200 mm slabs, made by our manufacturing partners in India, and help you plan for them.
The material
There is no single international threshold, but “large format” usually means porcelain tiles with at least one side of 1200 mm or more — from 800 × 1600 mm up to slab sizes such as 1200 × 2400 and 1200 × 3200 mm. Larger formats mean fewer grout joints and a more continuous surface, but they are heavier, need very flat substrates and must be handled and installed with specialist care.
At this size, small deviations become visible. Flatness and warpage decide whether the installer can avoid lippage. Thickness affects strength, weight and how the tile is cut and lifted. And packing moves from boxes to wooden crates or A-frames, which changes how a container is loaded. Verify formats and thicknesses with partner factories
Before you order, it is worth confirming that installers at your destination have the tools and experience for large tiles — typically suction lifters, levelling systems and back-buttering with suitable adhesive, following the adhesive and tile manufacturer’s guidance.

FAQ
Yes. We supply large formats from 800 × 1600 mm up to 1200 × 3200 mm, made by our manufacturing partners in India. Thickness, finish and crate packing vary by design, so send us your requirement and we will confirm the specification before you commit.
Large tiles and slabs are usually shipped in wooden crates or on A-frames rather than standard boxes. The packing method, crate weight and container loading are confirmed with the manufacturer at quotation.
Yes. They generally need a very flat substrate, full adhesive coverage and levelling systems, and they are often lifted with suction frames. Installers should follow the tile and adhesive manufacturer’s guidance and local standards.
The terms overlap. “Slab” usually refers to the largest formats, such as 1200 × 2400, 1200 × 2800 and 1200 × 3200 mm, or 800 × 2400 to 800 × 3200 mm, which are often used for walls, cladding and furniture tops as well as floors.
